REAL MADRID AND BAYERN MUNICH ATTRACT SELL-OUT CROWD AT METLIFE STADIUM FOR 2016 INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONS CUP

Sellout Crowd To Be on Hand to See the Current UEFA Champions League Titleholders Match Up with Four-Time Defending Bundesliga Champions

East Rutherford, NJ (August 3, 2016) – Today, Relevent Sports announced a sellout crowd will be in attendance tonight to watch the marquee match-up of UEFA Champions League titleholders Real Madrid C.F and four-time defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich F.C. at MetLife Stadium as part of the 2016 International Champions Cup and Audi Football Summit.

MetLife Stadium, home to the National Football League’s New York Jets and New York Football Giants, continues to host some of the best soccer matches in the world, as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are two of the world’s most well-known and recognizable clubs. This will be the first time that both these teams will play a match at MetLife Stadium.

Bayern Munich F.C. arrive at MetLife Stadium following their first victory of the 2016 International Champions Cup at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC. The club defeated F.C. Internazionale by the score of 4-1, led by a hat-trick from United States national Julian Green. Their tournament began with a thrilling battle against Serie A legends A.C. Milan at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL. The game was decided on penalty kicks following a goal by Frank Ribery in the closing minutes of regulation, with A.C. Milan earning the victory in the shootout by the score of 5-3.

Current Manager Zinedine Zidane leads Real Madrid C.F. as they conclude their International Champions Cup campaign tonight at MetLife Stadium. The club began their tournament with a loss to Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain at the iconic Ohio Stadium in Columbus, OH by the score of 3-1. Attendance for the match was announced at 86,641, an all-time record for a soccer match in the state of Ohio. Real Madrid earned their first victory in their second match as well, defeating English Premier League giants Chelsea F.C. 3-2 at the famed “Big House” in Ann Arbor. Attendance for the matched was announced at 105,826, the second most attended soccer match in U.S. history, only behind Real Madrid's previous trip to the Michigan Stadium which drew 109,318 fans as part of the 2014 International Champions Cup.

The 2016 International Champions Cup runs from July 23 – August 13 with matches played across the United States and throughout the world. Each team will play three contests and the club with the most points at the end of the tournament will be crowned champion. Each win in regulation will result in three points and a tie will go straight to a shootout; the winning team in a shootout will receive two points and the losing team will receive one.

In total, 10 teams from around the globe, including England (Liverpool, Chelsea F.C. Leicester City), Italy (AC Milan, Inter Milan), France (Paris Saint-Germain F.C.), Spain (Barcelona, Real Madrid), Germany (Bayern Munich) and Scotland (Celtic F.C.) are competing in the 2016 International Champions Cup. This year's International Champions Cup features the most storied and successful clubs in the world, including many of the world's top players. The ten participating teams have won a total of 195 domestic league titles, 250 domestic cup titles and 37 UEFA Champions League titles. The teams feature 18 of the 2015-2016 FIFA Ballon d'Or nominees, as well as 50 of the top 100 players in the world as chosen yearly by renowned English magazine FourFourTwo.
