MetLife Stadium recently topped the annual venue ratings released by Billboard magazine, receiving the number one ranking as the 2014 top grossing stadium in the world. This is the fourth time MetLife Stadium has achieved this ranking since opening its doors in 2010. MetLife Stadium was previously ranked number one in the world in 2010, 2012 & 2013 and number one in the U.S. in 2011.
Stadium Earns No. 1 Spot on the Industry’s International Chart Four of the Last Five Years
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – January 6, 2015 – MetLife Stadium recently topped the annual venue ratings released by Billboard magazine, receiving the number one ranking as the 2014 top grossing stadium in the world. This is the fourth time MetLife Stadium has achieved this ranking since opening its doors in 2010. MetLife Stadium was previously ranked number one in the world in 2010, 2012 & 2013 and number one in the U.S. in 2011.
On Billboard’s list of “Top 10 Stadiums,” ranked by gross ticket sales reported between November 1, 2013 and November 11, 2014, MetLife Stadium generated a total gross of $71,725,115 with total attendance of 864,200 for 22 shows, including two back-to-back nights of One Direction’s “Where We Are Tour”, Billboard’s Top Tour of the Year. The rankings do not take into account the 20 New York Football Giants and New York Jets NFL games played at the stadium, nor does it count Super Bowl XLVIII, which the stadium hosted on February 2, 2014.
The annual ranking published by Billboard at the end of December factored in sales from concerts, international soccer, motor sports, and college and high school sporting events.
MetLife Stadium has annually played host to Billboard’s Top Grossing Tours: Bon Jovi (2010), U2 (2011), Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (2012), Bon Jovi (2013), and One Direction (2014). The Stadium attracts over 2 million visitors a year, making it one of the busiest stadium in the world.
Highlights from the past year include back-to-back shows by JAY Z and Beyoncé’s “On The Run Tour” and Eminem and Rihanna’s “The Monster Tour”, and the two-day Electric Daisy Carnival New York, which returned to MetLife Stadium for the second time since 2012. Cristiano Ronaldo delighted international soccer fans, leading the roster for Portugal in their final match before heading to Brazil for the World Cup.

Upcoming events for 2015 include: AMA Supercross on April 25; Electric Daisy Carnival New York on Memorial Day weekend, May 24 & 25; Monster Jam on June 13; CONCACAF Gold Cup Knock-Out Round in July (date TBD); Taylor Swift’s “The 1989 World Tour” July 10 & 11; One Direction “On The Road Again Tour” on August 5; Kenny Chesney and Jason Aldean’s “The Big Revival Tour” and “The Burn It Down Tour” with Brantley Gilbert and special guest Cole Swindell on August 15.
